Been Weird Lately

I am so sorry to you all who I have not kept in touch with these last couple of days. It has been a hard week for Dave and me. On Friday, December 21st Dave's father passed away. It was a shock to us all! On Saturday, we packed up the car and did the 19 hour drive to Arkansas. The drive wasn't bad, but it was long to do all in one shot and Oklahoma has to be the MOST BORING state I have ever driven through!

Ok, so not only were we there for the funeral, but I got to meet most of Dave's family. Can we say STRESSFUL? It was nice, however, and they all took me in as if I were one of the family. I got to meet Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Second Cousins, Sons , Friends, even an Ex (Awkward, but not as bad as I was expecting). One thing I can say is that news travels FAST in that small community! Felt like I was on rumor control (aka, no I don't have any kids, I don't know where that came from, I have never been pregnant).

Dave was amazing, I don't think I would have been able to hold myself together as well as he did! Just the fact that I was back in Arkansas after so many years (I was 14 when I moved from there) was stress enough for me. I couldn't imagine what was going through his head and I don't even want to try! We were able to get some of his things out of storage and take them home including the yearbook from Gosnell Jr. High the year I lived there.. It was too cute when I opened it and found a heart drawn around my picture.. He "loved" me even back then!

I got to meet 2 of Dave's 3 sons. Davey and Alex are typical boys, ha ha loud, and full of this energy that I wish I could bottle up and sell! I can't even remember having that much energy, but I must have according to my mom! Davey reminds me so much of Dave when he was younger! You can tell he just sits back and takes everything in before he decides to do something. Alex, on the other hand, is the fiesty one, the one to say before he thinks type. Each in their own way, great kids and it was fun to see them and watch Dave spend some quality time with his boys.

All in all, it was nice for Dave to see his family and at this time, he really needed that! I'm glad I got to share it with him. Don't think I have ever been asked "When y'all gettin' hitched?" so many times in my lifetime, ha ha, but that was expected and my answer: We're thinking about it.
